Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga
Confession 76
The 76th training precept: Patting the hidden place with the hand.
Origin Story
Location as before. Then in Thullā bhikkhunī a lustful mind was blazing. She patted the hidden place with her hand, and when she was doing this, a boil gradually developed and great pain arose. Question and answer as before, down to: “Noble one, what do you suffer from now?” Then she fully explained the matter. The bhikkhunīs said: “Is engaging in this thing compatible with a pure state?” She replied: “Pure or impure, I’ve already done it.” The bhikkhunīs told the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus told the Buddha. The Buddha asked and criticized, as explained in detail above, down to: “I’ll lay down another training precept. You should recite it like this:
Final Ruling
‘If a bhikkhunī pats the hidden place with her hand, it’s a pācittiya.’”
Explanations
“A bhikkhunī” means Thullā bhikkhunī, or any other bhikkhunī.
“The hidden place” is as explained above.
“Patting” means patting with the hand.
“Pācittiya” is as before.
If bhikkhunīs pat the hidden place with the hand, they all incur a pācittiya offense.
