Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga
Confession 146
The 146th training precept: Not removing the (kaṭhina) robe together.
Origin Story
Location as before. Then, there was a group of bhikkhunīs who had gathered together. As the World-honored One had said: “When the rains retreat is over, a bhikkhunī should travel among the people.” They went traveling together, and encountered criminals on the way. They returned to the bhikkhunī monastery, told the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus told the Buddha. The Buddha said: “I now allow that bhikkhunīs who encounter criminals distribute the kaṭhina robe.” When the bhikkhunīs heard this, they all gathered, and then summoned Thullanandā bhikkhunī: “Noble one, please come to remove the kaṭhina robe with us.” But she wasn’t willing to come. The bhikkhunīs told the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus told the Buddha. The Buddha asked if it was true and criticized her, as explained in detail, down to: “I’ll lay down another training precept. You should recite it like this:
