Bhikkhunī Vibhaṅga
Confession 147
The 147th training precept: Not distributing robes together.
Origin Story
Location as before. Then the bhikkhunīs had removed the kaṭhina robe and wanted to distribute it together. Thullanandā wasn’t willing to come and distribute it. The bhikkhunīs repeatedly summoned her to come, and became weary. The bhikkhunī guarding the robe felt vexed. The bhikkhunīs told the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus told the Buddha. The Buddha asked if it was true and criticized her, as explained in detail, down to: “I’ll lay down another training precept. You should recite it like this:
Final Ruling
‘If a bhikkhunī doesn’t distribute robes together with the others, it’s a pācittiya.’”
Explanations
“A bhikkhunī” means Thullanandā, or any other bhikkhunī.
“Not distributing robes together with the others” means not gathering together and creating an obstacle.
The explanations of the rule factors etc. are as explained in detail before.
